To prevent interference from entering or leaving equipment, LCA® EMI filters can be installed directly into the wall of a shielded enclosure. Any incoming or outgoing cables are routed through these filters. Power or desired signals pass through the filter unimpeded, while higher-frequency interference is suppressed. The shielded housing blocks radiated interference, and the feedthrough filters block conducted interference, thereby ensuring the equipment’s integrity.
The core advantage of this mounting method is that it avoids the problem of “exposed cable segments between the filter and the shield.” If the filter is not panel-mounted, the sections of cable before and after penetrating the shield can act as antennas, both radiating and receiving interference, significantly compromising the noise suppression effect. Panel mounting achieves an integrated “filtering-shielding” interface. It ensures that interference cannot cross the shielding boundary via conduction, nor easily bypass the protection via radiation. This ultimately maximizes the operational integrity and stability of the equipment in complex electromagnetic environments. Consequently, this method is widely used in scenarios with stringent EMC requirements, such as industrial control equipment, communication terminals, and medical instruments.
